Parent Group Norms

o Accountability:

n Committee meetings & Parent Leadership meetings occur once a month

n Representation from each committee, staff, and students should be present at all committee meetings

n The opinions of all stakeholders are valued

n Committee meetings are always open to all stakeholders- decisions are disseminated to all stakeholders

n Everyone should contribute and/or represented

o Healthy Communication:

n Listen respectfully to everyone’s opinions

n Consider the interests of all the students, not one’s own

n Everyone (staff, parents, students, community members) should be reachable

n Take advantage of different media

n Avoid “negative” talk about specific individuals

o Meetings are effective and efficient

n All meetings should have objectives and agendas

n Focus meetings on meeting objectives

n Meetings should follow set procedures & rules

n Begin and end on time

n Use by-laws

o Establish Animo Community

n Shared Decision-Making with Staff, Students, and Parents

n Shared responsibility
